Grossed up benefits and reportable fringe benefits

The grossed-up value of a benefit is not always the same as the reportable fringe benefit value. This is because different gross up factors are applied based on whether the cost includes GST or not.

  • Type 1 gross up factor (2.0802) is applied when GST is included and type 2 (1.8868) when it is not.
  • Type 2 gross up factor is always applied to reportable fringe benefits, regardless of the GST.

Make sure you use the Reportable Fringe Benefits Report to prepare your employee’s annual income statements (previously known as their PAYG summaries).
